Young Indian batting sensation Rinku Singh has amazed everyone with his brilliant performance since making his debut in international cricket. However, he has played only T20I cricket so far; after playing 12 matches for India in the shortest format of the game, Rinku has batted in 8 innings in which he has aggregated 262 runs with a brilliant average of 65.50, including one half-century in the recently-concluded T20I series against South Africa.
Meanwhile, the India skipper for the ODI series against South Africa, KL Rahul has come up with a big hint on Rinku Singh’s highly anticipated ODI debut during the first ODI of the three-match series against the Proteas.
"That has been very refreshing for me to see." - KL Rahul about Rinku Singh
KL Rahul also lauded the youngster for his remarkable performances in T20I cricket so far since his debut. The stand-in ODI skipper also reckoned the brilliant game awareness of the 26-year-old in the quickest format of the game.
“What has been good to see is the temperament and game awareness that he (Rinku) has shown in the T20I series. He has shown how good a player he has been. We have seen the calmness. That has been very refreshing for me to see as well on the television. He has performed well across formats in first-class cricket. He will get his opportunity even in the ODI series,” said KL Rahul during the pre-match press conference ahead of the first ODI against South Africa.
“I will be doing wicket-keeping & batting in the middle order in this ODI series. I am happy to take any role in the Test series which the captain, the coach and the management want. Of course, even in T20, I want to play for my country,” he added later.
