“I told Hardik that the Pandya household will have nine trophies in 11 years: Krunal Pandya

As the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a six-run win over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the grand finale to lift the title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3, all-rounder Krunal Pandya has opened up on his match-winning performance.

Notably, Krunal won the player of the match in the IPL 2025 grand finale, with a match-winning spell of 2/17 in four overs. To make things more interesting, Krunal emerged as the only player to win the POTM award in two IPL finals, with the first coming in the IPL 2017 Final for the Mumbai Indians.

"I told Hardik that the Pandya household will have nine trophies in 11 years. We've both worked incredibly hard, and to contribute on a night like this means the world to me,” Krunal Pandya said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

"When we were playing the first innings, I had this feeling that the slower you bowl, the better it'll be. But you need courage to do that in T20 cricket. I just backed myself and varied my pace. If you bowled quick, it was a good wicket to bat on, but mixing it up made things difficult. My strength has always been understanding what the situation demands. Tonight, I knew I had to be brave,” he added.

Shifting our focus to the details of the game, RCB was asked to bat first after losing the toss. Virat Kohli (43 off 35) and Rajat Patidar (26 off 16) scored important knocks in the start of the game. In the middle overs, Liam Livingstone (25 off 15) and Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10) turned the game’s complexion with their impressive gameplay.

Ultimately, RCB posted 190/9 in 20 overs. In reply, PBKS kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Josh Inglis turned the heads, scoring 39 runs in 23 balls. On the other hand, Shashank Singh tried his best, scoring 61* runs in 30 balls with three fours and six sixes, but it wasn't enough for his side as RCB secured a six-run win in the end.
