Former England captain and commentator Michael Vaughan feels Virat Kohli should be given another captaincy stint in Tests on the England tour as Shubman Gill will act as his deputy in the five-match series, starting on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.

Notably, there are a lot of reports on the internet, indicating Kohli’s retirement from the longest format of the game. However, BCCI has given Kohli a few days’ time to reconsider his decision and come up with his ultimate call.

For the unversed, the Indian team is scheduled to tour England for a five-match Test series, starting on June 20. This series will fall in the new World Test Championship Cycle. The fifth and final Test of the series concluded on August 4 at the Kennington Oval in London.

"If I was India I would give the captaincy to Virat for the Test series in England .. Shubman Gill can be his VC for the tour,” Michael Vaughan posted on X (Formerly Twitter).

On the other hand, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif wants Virat Kohli to reconsider his decision and take part in the England tour to finish his red-ball career on a high note. He added that Kohli might be thinking about the ball outside off-stump, which troubled him off late in his Test career.

"Virat Kohli, India's Babbar Sher, wants to relax. He is thinking about retirement. I think he should go to England, prove his point and end his career on a high note. Because of the work he did in the T20 World Cup, he should end his career on a good note. Is he thinking about retirement out of helplessness? Because there is one kind of delivery that has been troubling him for many years. The ball bowled outside the off stump," Kaif said in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter).
