India won the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time in as many attempts. It was a comprehensive performance from the Niki Prasad-led side as India didn’t lose a single game on their way to glory. Apart from India, South Africa also did well in the tournament and were unbeaten until the final of the World Cup.
Here’s the best XI of the tournament
Trisha Gongadi is a must in this team thanks to her terrific show with the bat and ball throughout the World Cup. She deservingly won the player of the tournament award for scoring 309 runs at a strike rate of 147.14 and also picked seven wickets in four innings.
Her opening partner in this XI will be South Africa’s Jemma Botha who looked extremely good in the final before getting out. She scored 105 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 123.52. England’s Davina Perrin will bat at number three in this line-up who was the second highest run-scorer with 176 runs to her name.
Gongadi’s opening partner in the Indian team, G Kamalini is next in the team for scoring 143 runs while the other two Indian players in the Best XI are Vaishnavi Sharma and Aayushi Shukla. Both left-arm spinners were exceptional with the ball for India accounting for 17 and 14 wickets respectively.
South Africa skipper Kayla Reyneke has also been named the captain of this team for astutely leading her team throughout the tournament. She picked up 11 wickets and batted in top four for the Protea girls in the World Cup. Caoimhe Bray of Australia and Nepal’s Puja Mahato are the middle-order batters in this team.
Mahato was brilliant for her team scoring 70 runs and picking up nine wickets in the tournament. The bowling line-up is completed by Chamodi Praboda who sizzled against India picking up three wickets while her overall tally was nine wickets in the competition.
