Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), disclosed that Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), had a casual discussion regarding the Asia Cup 2025 trophy dispute.

The International Cricket Council's (ICC) intervention is reportedly going to break the impasse between Pakistan minister Mohsin Naqvi and the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The Asia Cup 2025 trophy may arrive in India as soon as possible if everything is resolved by the conclusion of the ICC meeting in Dubai.

India won the Asia Cup final against Pakistan, but the Suryakumar Yadav-led team declined to accept the trophy from Naqvi. The Indian cricket team has yet to get the trophy that the PCB president took with him. At the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings in Dubai, the BCCI was supposed to bring up the matter.

However, Saikia claimed that because the subject was "informally" discussed by the two cricket boards, the "ice was broken" with the PCB. The talks between BCCI and PCB were mediated by CEO Sanjog Gupta and ICC Deputy Chair Imran Khawaja, according to the Times of India.

Saikia spoke with Naqvi outside of the ICC conference, and the BCCI secretary claims that the discussions went well and the issue will soon be settled. The BCCI official, however, refuted any reports that an ICC committee will be established to resolve the Asia Cup deadlock.

He claimed that there would be no need to take any harsh measures because the problem will be fixed and the trophy would be given to India shortly.

"Although one of the senior persons from ICC is involved in the process of negotiation, there is no requirement for any such thing (a committee) at this stage. The issue will be resolved before any such drastic step is taken by the ICC," Saikia told news agency PTI.

"Definitely, in the coming times, if things go in a positive way, the issue will be sorted at the earliest," Saikia said.
