Former England captain and commentator Michael Vaughan has stated that India would come out with flying colours if they win the toss against England in the second semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Speaking exclusively to Cricbuzz, Vaughan has stated that the toss might play a major factor in the crucial semi-final at the iconic stadium, adding that the team winning the toss would love to chase down the target, considering the dew factor.
"If India win the toss, they'll play the final against New Zealand. But if England win the toss, they might be in the final. It's not great for television, but it'll save everyone a load of stress. They can go out to the Marine Drive or play paddle tennis. You want to be chasing, but I don't think it'll be as drastic as it is in Kolkata. There's a fairer balance, but 60-40 if you win the toss,” Michael Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.
On the other hand, the former Indian keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has reckoned that dew might not play a major factor in the second innings, stating that the team batting first can put up a big score as well.
"I don't think toss is that big a factor in Mumbai. Because earlier in the tournament, there wasn't too much dew. Kolkata felt like winning the toss meant winning the match. In Mumbai the team batting first can put up a big score as well. If there is dew, though, then winning the toss becomes a very important part of this game," Dinesh Karthik said.
Furthermore, the former England captain predicted India as the strong favorites to make it to the final and join New Zealand in the grand finale. However, he added that England are very dangerous.
"India are favorites. They are in their own backyard. They've played a good couple of games after the blip against South Africa. Their batting unit is in form, and the players are back with the confidence that was lacking a week or so ago. But England are very dangerous. They'll be very brave, which comes with a bit of risk," said Vaughan.
