Rohit Sharma-led Team India are enjoying a golden run of form in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 with 8 consecutive wins in the 8 matches they played so far. Apart from that, the men in blue also became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament with 7 consecutive wins.
Amidst all this, the former Indian cricketer and ex-head coach Ravi Shastri came up with a warning message for Rohit Sharma’s men ahead of their big match against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Notably, India and the Blackcaps will lock horns with each other in the first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 on Wednesday, November 15.
Ravi Shastri feels that the current edition of the prestigious cricket quadrennial is very significant and crucial for Team India to win otherwise they might have to wait for a long time to even try to win the ODI World Cup.
"They would probably have to wait another three World Cups." - Ravi Shastri about Team India
“If they miss out this time, they would probably have to wait another three World Cups for even thinking of trying to win it. The pool of players is such that 7-8 players are at their peak,” said Ravi Shastri during a conversation with Club Prairie Fire Podcast.
Furthermore, Ravi Shastri also heaped praise on the Indian bowling attack and named it the best pace attack for India in the ODI history of almost 50 years.
“It is the best attack in 50 years ever since white-ball cricket started,” he said.
Speaking of Team India’s performances in the last couple of editions of the ODI World Cup 2023, they have qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament for the fourth consecutive time since 2011 when they clinched their second title. Apart from that, it will be their 5th semi-final appearance in an ODI World Cup edition in the 21st century.
