Ignored India star shares cryptic post ahead of 1st England Test

Ahead of the five-match Test series against England that begins on June 20, Indian fast bowler Mukesh Kumar posted a mysterious message on Instagram. Disregarding the England series, Mukesh remarked, "Karma is unforgiving." Hours before India's opening Test match against England in Leeds, the post went viral.

The post's timing has sparked conjecture that it might have something to do with his absence from the England trip roster. Both Anshul Kamboj, who shared the second-highest number of wickets in the two games with Chris Woakes and George Hill, and Mukesh, who had taken a six-fer for India A on the Australian tour and claimed three wickets in the one game he played against the England Lions, causing a collapse in the hosts' middle order, were left out of the series.

A controversy has been sparked by the selection of Harshit Rana in India's Test team for the five-match series against England. The bowler was initially a member of the India A team, but he was added to the main squad following the conclusion of the unofficial Test matches.

Mukesh expressed his displeasure in a post on Instagram without naming anyone. "Karma bides its time. You will always have to watch out”. The pacer posted on his Instagram account, saying, "Karma is unforgiving and always gets payback."

Since making his debut against the West Indies at Port of Spain in July 2023, Mukesh Kumar has only appeared in three Test matches for India. At an average of 25.57 and an economy rate of 3.78, the 31-year-old has claimed seven wickets. In February 2024, he last played against England.

However, Harshit Rana has only participated in two Test matches since making his debut in November 2024 during the opening match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Perth. At an average of 50.75 and an economy rate of 4.51, he has taken four wickets.

On June 20, the first Test match between India and England will begin at Headingley in Leeds. Since 2007, India has failed to win a Test series played in England.
