India A squad for for Australia A series announced; Shreyas Iyer to lead

The India A team for the two multi-day matches versus Australia A has been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On September 16, 2025, the first game of the red-ball series is set to begin, and on September 23, 2025, the second multi-day match will start. Both games will be played at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium.

The series will be captained by middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer, with wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel appointed as the vice-captain. The team also includes both talented young players and well-known domestic performers.

B Sai Sudharsan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Prasidh Krishna are among the other prominent Indian cricket players who have been included in the squad in addition to Shreyas. In addition, the BCCI declared that great bowler Mohammed Siraj and seasoned batter KL Rahul would be joining the team for the second multi-day game.

“KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj will be added to the squad for the 2nd multi-day match and will replace two players in the squad after the 1st multi-day match,” a BCCI release stated.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, Tanush Kotian, and N. Jagadeesan, who have been on the periphery of the Indian Test setup lately but have not yet made their debut, will have the chance to play in the series.

Devdutt Padikkal, a brilliant left-hander, will get an opportunity to show himself and make the Test team recall. He last wore the white flannels for India against Australia in Perth during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series last year.

Due to an injury, Sarfaraz Khan was not included in the India A team. No players from India's white-ball team, who will be busy with the Asia Cup 2025 that same month, are included in the lineup.
