India-Pakistan combined XI in T20Is

Pakistan was one of the teams that adapted to the T20 format very early. India followed late but made an immediate impact by winning the 2007 T20 World Cup. Pakistan followed suit by winning the 2009 T20 World Cup.

Legends and youngsters of both teams have ensured that India and Pakistan have great legacies in the T20I format of cricket. However, India has moved ahead in the format with its second T20 World Cup win in 2024, while Pakistan struggles despite no dearth of talent in the country.

However, a dream combined XI of India and Pakistan in the T20I format is what cricket lovers wish for if the two countries reunite, and today, we bring the same to you. Here is the India-Pakistan combined XI in T20Is.

Check out the India-Pakistan combined XI in T20Is.

Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam, along with Virat Kohli, are the handful of players to have over 4000 runs in T20I format. Rohit Sharma leads the way with 4231 runs in 159 games with a record 5 centuries and a best of 121*. Babar Azam follows suit with 4223 runs in 123 ODIs with 3 tons and a best of 122.

Virat Kohli had his way of playing T20Is with very few high-risk shots and made 4188 runs in 125 T20Is with one ton and a best of 122. He did score 38 half-centuries and had an average of 48.69 in his career.

After such a brilliant top order, even the combined India-Pakistan T20 XI also has an amazing middle and lower order. Shoaib Malik, Suryakumar Yadav, MS Dhoni, and Shahid Afridi make up the strong middle order of the XI.

Shoaib Malik had a long career for Pakistan and scored 2435 runs in 124 T20Is with 9 fifties and a best of 75. He also took 28 wickets with his off-spin and was a great utility player who could open the innings, finish the innings, and anchor as well.

Modern-day T20I great Suryakumar Yadav comes in next, with 2598 runs in only 83 T20Is with 4 centuries and 21 fifties. The current Indian T20I captain has the best score of 117 and is perhaps the most innovative player in the world today.

MS Dhoni and Shahid Afridi were the two great players who adapted to T20s early. Afridi played 99 T20Is, scoring 1416 runs and taking 98 wickets, and was the architect of Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup win. On the other hand, MS Dhoni captained India in the first-ever T20 World Cup in 2007 and led them to the title. Dhoni made 1617 runs in 98 T20Is and made 57 catches and 34 stumpings in his career.

Saeed Ajmal’s mastery of off-spin made him a great asset in T20Is, with 85 wickets in 64 matches and a best of 4/19. Ajmal was also part of Pakistan's 2009 T20WC winning squad as well. He was great in the middle overs and deadly in the final overs as well.

Coming to the pace attack, it features three of the best both India and Pakistan have to offer. Mohammad Amir and Umar Gul are both T20 World Cup winners for Pakistan, while Jasprit Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament in India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win.

Umar Gul was the pioneer in T20Is with his brilliant swing bowling and pinpoint yorkers. He was the first to take a five-for in T20Is and the T20 World Cup. He ended with 85 wickets in 60 T20I matches for Pakistan.

Mohammad Amir was a modern-day great who made a huge comeback after the match-fixing ordeal. He took 71 wickets in 62 T20Is with a best of 4/13 but starred in Pakistan's 2009 T20 World Cup win.

Last comes Jasprit Bumrah, who has 89 wickets in 70 T20Is with a best of 3/7 at an economy of 6.27. He has excelled both with the new ball, providing swing, and in death with his yorkers.
