“Happy for this guy today’ - Indian cricketers react on X after defending the T20 World Cup trophy

Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, defended the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 title after defeating New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.

Shifting our focus to the details of the grand finale against New Zealand, after losing the toss, India batted first and posted an imposing total of 255/5 in 20 overs, courtesy of Sanju Samson's 89, Abhishek Sharma's 52, and Ishan Kishan's 54. 

In the second innings, New Zealand got bundled out for 159 runs in 19 overs, losing the game by 96 runs. Tim Seifert was the top scorer with 52 runs in 26 balls, but his knock went in vain. Jasprit Bumrah pocketed a four-wicket haul to win the player of the match award.
