IPL 2025: 3 CSK players

The Chennai Super Kings, regarded as one of the most successful franchises in history, are once again preparing to win the crown in the 2025 season.

The team did not advance to the playoffs in the 2024 season, falling to RCB in the final game of the league stage. The five-time IPL champions are eager to stage another dramatic comeback in the upcoming season, and their approach at the auction table was strong evidence of that.

In the IPL 2025 mega auction, CSK splurged quite a few crore rupees to buy some of the best talent available at the event. However, despite their best efforts, a few players were bought to complete the squad and might not get to play a single game in the IPL 2025 season.

Today, we take a look at three players from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who might be benched the entire season.

IPL 2025: 3 CSK players who might be benched for the whole season

1. Vansh Bedi

Vansh Bedi was bought by the CSK franchise in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 55 lakhs. He had put his base price at only INR 30 lakhs in the wicketkeeper’s slot. Bedi has been bought by the CSK franchise as a backup for MS Dhoni. Bedi was a star in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) and has played one T20 match for Delhi as well.

He couldn't have asked for a better club, as the wicketkeeper-batter would have the opportunity to learn under one of the world's top keeper-batters, MS Dhoni, in the IPL 2025. Bedi can improve his talents under the tutelage of "Thala" in one of the world's most competitive leagues. With Devon Conway also in CSK, Vansh Bedi might not get to play a single game and be on the bench for the entire season.

2. Anshul Kamboj

Haryana’s Anshul Kamboj had been the find for IPL 2024 for Mumbai Indians. He played three matches in IPL 2024 and picked two wickets. Kamboj entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with a base price of INR 30 lakhs. Then, Chennai Super Kings secured his services for INR 3.40 crores.

Kamboj recently etched his name in the history books as he took all ten wickets in an innings in a Ranji Trophy match. He achieved the feat for Haryana during his team’s Round 5 clash against Kerala in Rohtak. His extraordinary spell of 10/49 made him only the third bowler in Ranji history to do so.

CSK has bowlers like Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Chaudhary, Matheesha Pathirana, Jamie Overton, and Sam Curran as pace options. Therefore, it would be difficult for Anshul Kamboj to break through in the CSK XI in the IPL 2025 season.

3. Ramakrishna Ghosh

Maharashtra cricketer Ramakrishna Ghosh was the latest new name added to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roster for the IPL 2025 season. CSK paid INR 30 lakhs, his base price, in the IPL 2025 mega auction that happened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Ramakrishna Ghosh, 27, is a right-handed all-rounder who bowls pace and is pretty handy with the bat in the lower order. He has played 4 first-class matches, 4 List A matches, and 6 T20s for the Maharashtra team, having made his debut in 2022. So far, he has 10 wickets and 220-plus runs in 14 matches across formats in domestic cricket.

But the Chennai Super Kings squad is filled with exciting Indian pace bowling talents like Mukesh Chaudhary, Khaleel Ahmed, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Gurjapneet Singh. Therefore, it will be hard for Ghosh to make a spot for himself in the CSK XI and he might spend most of his time carrying drinks and warming the bench.
