The defending champions boast a strong squad for the IPL 2025. The Kolkata Knight Riders have an all-round side that ticks off all the boxes from the star batters, power hitters, mighty all-rounders, deadly pacers and magical spinners.

They are prepared to face and defeat any side on any ground any day. The only problem it seems so far for them would be a problem of plenty as they have options for every role and every player in the team seems to be a match-winner on their own.

Such strong competition within the team would certainly help the team put up great performances but then such a situation might also lead to youngsters not getting chances to prove their worth.

Here are three players who might not be able to find a place in the team for the entire season of 2025.

1. Umran Malik

Umran garnered a lot of attention with his raw pace in the Indian Premier League. He also had put up performances to back up the attention he received at the time, so much so that he found himself in the Indian National team soon enough.

He has played a total of 54 T20s and with an economy of 9.10, he plucked away 65 wickets while being able to swing his bat around when needed as well. However, he could not keep up with his performances for long and kept spraying the balls all over the pitch, losing his line and length in the process.

Regularly clicking 145 and 150 kmph did not help him much as he could not keep bowling in the right areas. As a result, soon enough the teams started losing interest in him. He got to play just one game in the previous season.

2. Anukul Roy

Roy is a 26-year-old Jharkhand cricketer who can play the role of an all-rounder in the team. He has smashed 657 runs at a strike rate of 150.34 while taking away 37 wickets with an economy of 7.13 playing for a total of 58 matches in his T20 career so far.

He is a great fielder in the outfield as well and makes the cut for a proper all-rounder any team can desire. However, the Kolkata Knight Riders have some quality when it comes to the list of all-rounders boasting the likes of Andre Russel, Sunil Narine and Moeen Ali.

Even when the team plays on spin-friendly pitches, having Varun Chakravarthy and Mayank Markande won’t really allow him to find a place in the team.

3. Angkrish Raghuvanshi

The tall, right-hand top-order batter was the star of the Indian team at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022. He was India’s highest scorer and fourth-highest among all. His glorious innings got him not only a bid at the IPL but he also got to feature in the playing XI where he started with a brilliant 50.

However, he could not get much after that and has been able to score 163 runs from seven innings with an average of just 23.28 playing at a strike rate of 155.23. The youngster seems to have a bright future, but getting a place in this star-studded team might not be a possibility for him this season.
