IPL 2025: 3 MI players who are yet to prove their worth

Mumbai Indians have done what Mumbai Indians do best at the start of an IPL season. The team lost the first two matches against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, respectively. Against CSK, MI scored 155 runs for the loss of nine wickets, which CSK chased down in 19.1 overs.

In the next game, GT made 196 runs for the loss of eight wickets. MI could score only 160 runs for the loss of six wickets and lost the match by 36 runs. It was GT’s third win over MI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in three games.

MI made a grand comeback in their third game against Kolkata Knight Riders. First, the bowlers dismissed KKR for a mere total of 116 runs. The batters chased down the target of 117 runs in just 12.5 overs. 

The five-time champions would want to have a similar result in their next outing. However, for that to happen, MI needs to do a lot of rework. Here are 3 MI players who are yet to prove their worth:

1. Robin Minz

Minz, a wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand came to the limelight during the IPL 2024 auction when Gujarat Titans shelled out INR 3.6 crore for him. MI were in the race to sign Minz in 2024 and fought a battle against Chennai Super Kings first. They had INR 2.75 crore left in their purse and were ready to put in all for him. But, GT came in with a purse value of INR 11.45 crore and picked Minz. He has scored just six runs in two games for MI this season.

2. Mitchell Santner

Santner had a terrific outing in the Champions Trophy this year but is yet to repeat his heroics in the IPL this season. He has scored just 29 runs and taken one wicket in three games for MI so far. MI had signed Santner for his base price of INR 2 crore during the IPL 2025 auction.

3. Rohit Sharma

Rohit was dismissed for a duck in the opening game against CSK. He scored eight runs against GT and 13 runs against KKR. He is one player that MI would want to remain in top form throughout the season considering the impact that he can have. However, the same has not happened as of now.
