Mumbai Indians have won the most number of IPL trophies alongside the Chennai team and has been regarded as one of the best T20 teams in the world, capable of beating many international sides as well.

Such a champion team is always made up of some of the best players of the game and every player who plays for the team is a champion player in his own right. As it may well be easily understood, finding a place in such teams is an extremely difficult job.

The Mumbai team has so many match-winners that each player in the playing XI can win the match for the team single-handedly. They do have a great squad as well and it would not be easy for the team management to give a game to each player.

Here are three players who might be benched for the whole season.

1. Arjun Tendulkar

Arjun made his debut in the IPL in 2023 being bought by the Mumbai Indians team. He got to represent the side in four matches that season where he was able to pick three wickets with an economy of 9.36.

He was retained by the Mumbai side for the 2024 season as well where he got to play another game without getting to dismiss any batter. Overall, his IPL stats show he picked three wickets in five matches with an economy of 9.37.

In a star-studded line-up of Mumbai Indians where they have bowling options of Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar and Reece Topley, getting a game for Arjun seems like a far-fetched dream. Even his stats don't support him enough to get a game this season.

2. Krishnan Shrijith

Krishnan Lakshmanan Shrijith is a 1996-born Karnataka player who features the role of wicketkeeper-batter. The 28-year-old batter has played for a couple of T20 teams where he has appeared for a total of 17 games amassing 393 runs at an average of 32.75 and a strike rate of 146.54.

He has also been regarded as a white-ball specialist in the circle and holds a decent record. Although Mumbai does not have any star wicketkeeper-batter in their team, they do have the likes of Ryan Rickleton and Robin Minz.

Ryan has done a great job for the Mumbai team in the SA20 league and might be the hot favourite of the team for the role. If looking for Indian options, the team might go for the young and dynamic Robin Minz with Srijith getting to be ignored for the season without getting a game.

3. Lizaad Williams

Lizaad Williams is a South African-born medium-pace bowler who has decent experience to his name. He has played a total of 89 T20 games in his career so far where he was able to take away 111 wickets with a good economy of 7.95.

He has been an economical option for the teams he has played for and has also been the option who can pick up crucial wickets in times of need. However, Mumbai Indians is one of the most competitive teams, not just in the league but across the world, and finding a place in such a team becomes a difficult task.

The team has great bowling options, especially when it comes to the pace attack with some of the most quality pacers in the world. In such a squad, he has been playing the role of a backup in case of an emergency and might not find himself in the playing 11 throughout the season.
