IPL 2025: 3 Out-of-Form Indian Players

The IPL 2025 has begun, and each franchise has played at least one game. Six of the 10 franchises have points against their names on the IPL 2025 points table, while 4 of the franchises are waiting for their first win.

Apart from this, despite the small data to work with, it is clearly visible that some of the Indian players have entered the IPL 2025 with extremely good form to back them up, while some of the Indian players are still struggling to get there.

Today in this article, we will have a look at 3 such players who are woefully out of form, and it shows in their performance in the IPL 2025.

Here are the 3 out-of-form Indian players in IPL 2025:

1. Rohit Sharma

India's captain and Mumbai Indians' mainstay Rohit Sharma had come into this IPL 2025 with a Player of the Match performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final. He had scored 76 to help India defeat New Zealand and earn their third Champions Trophy title and second ICC event win in 9 months.

However, despite that, everyone knew that Rohit Sharma was struggling for form even in the Champions Trophy and before that, the England series, and previously in the Test format as well. In MI’s opening match, Rohit Sharma couldn’t manage to score a single run, as he was out for a 5-ball duck. This was his 18th duck in IPL history, the second-highest ever.

2. Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj was omitted from the Indian white-ball team as the team management felt that the pacer couldn’t bowl well with an old ball. Also in the IPL 2025 auction, Siraj was not retained or bought back by the RCB franchise. He found a new home in Gujarat Titans and presumably took the role of leader of the pace attack from Mohammed Shami, who moved to SRH.

However, in the first match of the IPL 2025 for the Gujarat Titans, it was evident that Mohammed Siraj was woefully out of form with the ball. He sprayed the ball everywhere and went for 54 runs in his 4 overs. He was hit for 7 fours and 3 sixes as he failed to take a wicket.

3. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant was the costliest player sold in the IPL 2025 auction. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crores, making him the most expensive player ever in IPL. Shortly after, the LSG team also named him the captain of the franchise over Nicholas Pooran.

Rishabh Pant had come from playing Test cricket against Australia, where he struggled for runs barring a few innings. Recently, Pant, who was part of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 win, is no longer in plans for India’s T20I team. His batting form and record in T20Is are not good, and it was evident from his outing in the first IPL 2025 match, as he made a duck on his LSG debut.
