IPL 2025: 3 Players to watch out for in KKR vs SRH Match 15

Kolkata Knight Riders are all set to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 15th match of the season, which is scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 3. 

The two finalists of the last season will be facing each other for the first time this season, which guarantees a power packed performance from both teams. Here are three players who might stand out with their performances in this encounter.

1. Travis Head

Ever since the last edition of the Indian Premier League, Travis Head has established his name as probably the most dangerous batter in all of the league, striking at almost the rate of 200 in every match. Not only that, but he has also been one of the most consistent run scorers, which further adds to the dangerousness he holds against the opponent teams.

In IPL 2024, he has garnered 567 runs at a strike rate of 191.55 from the 15 matches he played that season with an average of 40.50 in these matches and was one of the leading scorers of the season. His knocks had included four half-centuries and one century too.

Coming to his performances this season, he has been making the most of his red-hot form. From the three matches played so far, he has already smashed 136 runs at a strike rate of 191.54 and an average of 45.33 which includes a half-century. It would be interesting to see how he takes on Kolkata’s bowlers.

2. Ajinkya Rahane

The 36-year-old Mumbai lad has switched sides from Chennai Super Kings to Kolkata Knight Riders this season. He has revolutionised how he plays T20 cricket in the last two years and as a result of that, he has had immense success in the format recently. Keeping in mind his form as well as the experience, he has also been appointed as the skipper of the Kolkata side for this season.

His recent success with the bat came in the 2023 season, where he had scored 326 runs at a strike rate of 172 from just 11 innings of the 14 matches he played. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, he was awarded Player of the Tournament, marking his blazing form.

He has kept up with his performances in the three matches he has played this season, with 85 runs at a strike rate of 160.37. His team is present at the bottom of the table, which might push him to perform even better in this game.

3. Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy has had immense success in cricket recently, making a comeback into the Indian T20I team. From there, he went on to make his debut in the ODI team and even played an instrumental role in India’s success at the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy.

He has been doing extremely well for the Kolkata Knight Riders for a while now. 

In the 29 matches he has played in the last two seasons, he has managed to scalp away 41 wickets with an economy of 8.09. He also played a key role in winning the championship for the Knights last season.

Varun has been doing a decent job so far in this season as well, where he has taken three wickets in the three matches played with an economy of 6.54. His great performance is due, and keeping in mind his recent success over Travis Head, this match might be the one where he turns things around.
