Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are all set to take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 42nd match of the ongoing IPL 2025 on 24 April at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. RCB are yet to win this season on their home ground.
Hence, they will look to change that against RR and currently, RCB are in the third position with 10 points in eight games (five wins, three losses), with a net run rate of +0.472. Meanwhile, RR have been struggling badly this season, currently sitting in the eighth position, with four points in eight games (two wins, six losses), with a net run rate of -0.633.
Therefore, a loss here will almost end their dream of the playoffs. In the last five encounters between these sides, RCB have won thrice while RR have registered victories on two occasions.
3 Players to Watch Out for in the RCB vs RR Match 42
1. Virat Kohli (RCB)
This veteran RCB batter will be key to their success once again. In this season so far, in eight games, Kohli has scored 322 runs, at an average of 64.40 with a strike rate of 140, including four fifties. He is sitting in the eighth spot in the race for the Orange Cap.
He is coming to this clash after bagging a Player of the Match award in their last game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur. Kohli remained not out on 73 off 54 in a successful chase of 158 in 18.5 overs. Hence, the home crowd will expect a big show from him once again, as his innings can settle the nerves for the whole batting unit, whether RCB bat first or second.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR)
This RR opener will be one of the players to watch out for in this upcoming clash. He has scored 307 runs so far in eight games this season, at an average of 38.37, with a strike rate of 139.54, including four fifties. Jaiswal is in the ninth spot in the race for the Orange Cap. RR lost their last game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by two runs in Jaipur.
But Jaiswal played a 74-run knock off 52 balls while chasing the 181-run target. Hence, he is expected to continue that form in Chinnaswamy also. However, this time around, he would like to finish the game for his team, which he was not able to do against LSG.
3. Josh Hazlewood (RCB)
This Aussie pacer has been in good rhythm since the start of this IPL season. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood has led the whole bowling unit and in eight games, he has taken 12 wickets at an economy of 8.39. Currently, he is in the fifth position in the race for the Purple Cap.
Hence, in the home conditions, in front of the home crowd, he is expected to deliver once again. Especially, the death bowling that he executed with Bhuvneshwar Kumar against PBKS was a treat to watch, and that kind of performance, RCB fans might want to see once again from both of them.
