An enthralling battle awaits in Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2025 as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on 23 April. SRH, the runners-up of the last IPL season, are currently struggling badly.
They are at the ninth spot with four points in seven games, with a net run rate of -1.217. After a slow start, MI have picked up their pace in the last three games and now, with eight points in eight games, they are in the sixth position with a net run rate of +0.483.
So, MI will look to continue their winning streak to strengthen themselves in the race for the playoffs, while for SRH, it can be a do-or-die match because a loss in this match will surely make it almost impossible for them to be alive in the playoff race.
In the reverse fixture at Wankhede, MI defeated SRH by four wickets, and in the last five encounters between these sides, MI have won four times while SRH have won only once.
3 Players to Watch Out for in the SRH vs MI Match 41
1. Rohit Sharma (MI)
The veteran MI batter finally announced his arrival in the IPL 2025 with a match-winning unbeaten knock of 76 off 45 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last game at the Wankhede.
Before that knock, Rohit scored only 82 runs in six innings, and fans were disappointed with his continuous failures. But, with a match-winning knock under his belt, MI fans will hope that there is no way back for Rohit in the upcoming games, starting from the SRH clash.
However, in the reverse fixture, Rohit got a start before getting out on 26 (16) to the SRH skipper, Pat Cummins. Hence, this time around, Rohit will look to continue his momentum by smashing a significant score against SRH.
2. Abhishek Sharma (SRH)
Impactful starts by the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have been the major factor in SRH’s success since last season. In seven innings so far, Abhishek has scored 232 runs, including a century (141) that came against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Hyderabad only.
So, the home fans will expect him to score big once again on the home ground. In the reverse fixture, Abhishek got a start but failed to convert it into a big one as he got out for 40 (28). MI skipper Hardik Pandya dismissed him.
3. Suryakumar Yadav (MI)
Suryakumar Yadav has been the most consistent batter so far for MI this season. In eight innings so far, he has scored 333 runs, at an average of 55.50 and a strike rate of 162.43, including two fifties.
He is currently in the fourth spot in the race for the Orange Cap. In the last game vs CSK, he also remained not out on 68 off 30, at a strike rate of 226.66. Surya also stitched an unbeaten 114-run partnership for the second wicket with Rohit Sharma to complete the 177-run target in just 15.4 overs.
In the reverse fixture, SRH skipper Cummins dismissed him for 26 (15). Therefore, Surya will look to get a big score this time around if he gets a start.
