IPL 2025: 3 Players who can replace Rachin Ravindra in CSK squad

Chennai Super Kings is the joint-most successful team in the Indian Premier League. They are known for their consistent performances and well-stabilised squads. Rachin Ravindra was phenomenal the last season which was also his first season in the Indian Premier League.

He was all set to play in IPL 2025 as well but there are possibilities that he might not be a part anymore. In a tragic turn of events, while fielding for his nation in the first match in the ongoing Tri-series, Rachin got hit on his forehead and nose where he started bleeding profusely.

The severity of the injury is not known so far and so his availability in the IPL 2025 is also in question. So, here are 3 players who might replace Rachin in the CSK squad if needed for the upcoming season.

1. Joe Root

Joe Root just might be the best replacement for Rachin Ravindra in the squad of Super Kings. Despite his image of not being a good T20 player, he has been in superb form in the shortest format of the game recently.

He participated in the recently concluded SA20 where he played over eight matches and smashed 279 runs at a strike rate of 140 and picked up five wickets in the process where he maintained an average of over 55. 

He is the all-round option with his golden-arm spin bowling, making him a like-for-like replacement for Rachin Ravindra. Additionally, he also bats at the top of the order just like Rachin which makes him the best fit for the role.

2. Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur, often referred to as “Lord” by the fans of the game, is quite famous for his clutch performances. When the game seems to have gone out of reach of the team, he has a knack for producing magical moments right in those moments which makes the cricketer special.

He has played for the most part in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings and this is where he had the most success as well. Having participated in over 95 matches in the league, he has scalped 94 wickets and has scored useful 304 runs down the order as well.

His slower deliveries become extremely useful in the pitches of the Chepauk and with such an all-round option, he would make a great pick for the squad of Chennai Super Kings. His familiarity with the team gives him an added advantage over others.

3. Daryl Mitchell

Another name who has already been familiar with the Chennai set-up and can make a fantastic addition to the team is Daryl Mitchell. He was actually sold for a whopping Rs 14 crores in IPL 2024 to the Chennai Super Kings and did a pretty decent job.

In the 13 games he played for the Super Kings in 2024, he scored 318 runs at a strike rate of 142.60 and picked up a wicket too in the two innings he got to bowl. He is a right-handed batter who can bat at the top or in the middle and bowls medium pace as well.

He is a utility player and his all-round skills can fit in well with the needs of the Chennai team. His experience, reliability and capability to perform in high-pressure matches with free flow ability to hit the balls out of the park makes him a suitable pick for the job.
