IPL 2025: 3 Players Who Might Be Released by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad had an up-and-down IPL 2025 season, failing to maintain consistency when it mattered most. SRH finished in 6th spot with 6 wins from 14 games. While they showed promise in patches, key players underperformed across departments. Heading into the next auction, changes are likely.

To strengthen their core and free up valuable slots, SRH may release a few names who didn’t live up to expectations. Strategic decisions like these could help them build a more balanced and competitive squad for the next season.

Here are the 3 players who might be released by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

1. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami, a seasoned bowler who was purchased for INR 10 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, found it difficult to defend his asking price. With a high bowling average of 56.17 and only 6 wickets in 9 games, his form has declined. Shami was dropped from the SRH XI as a result of his economy, which was likewise 11.23.

SRH may think about letting him go in order to make room for younger talent, considering his age and performance. Shami struggled to keep up his pace even when bowling four overs in T20 cricket, which further suggested that he was not fully fit.

2. Abhinav Manohar

Before the 2026 Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad may also decide to release Abhinav Manohar. The hitter, who had a reputation for making powerful strokes, was brought in by the team for 3.2 crore.

Manohar scored 61 runs at a strike rate of 100 in the eight IPL 2025 games he participated in. Manohar was unable to fulfill his intended role of scoring quickly when SRH needed him, and SRH may probably have to explore other possibilities.

3. Zeeshan Ansari

With ten appearances and six wickets, young leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari had plenty of opportunities in the 2025 Indian Premier League. He may have had trouble containing runs, as evidenced by his economy rate of 9.84. Only until Adam Zampa was sidelined by a shoulder injury did Zeeshan get to play.

By selecting Ansari above fellow leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, who has previously represented India, SRH demonstrated their strong belief in him. Given the fierce rivalry for bowling positions, SRH may decide to let him go to give Chahar more opportunities and possibly acquire other reliable players.
