IPL 2025: 3 RCB players who are yet to prove their worth

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are one of the three teams which are undefeated so far this season. The team defeated defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match. They chased down the target of 175 runs in 16.2 overs with seven wickets in hand. It was the first time RCB faced KKR in the opening game of a season since 2008.

RCB’s next battle was against Chennai Super Kings to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. RCB walked into this game with a losing streak of eight games in nine matches. The sole victory came during the first edition of the league.

Rajat Patidar led the show for RCB with his knock of 51 runs off 32 deliveries and helped the team reach a total of 196 runs for the loss of seven wickets. It was RCB’s third-highest total at Chepuak. Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball and took three wickets. CSK finished with 146 runs for the loss of eight wickets and lost the match by 50 runs.

Despite having a great start, there have been a few concerns that the team needs to solve. Let’s look at 3 RCB players who are yet to prove their worth this season:

1. Liam Livingstone

RCB fought a long battle against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings to have Liam Livingstone in the squad. They spent INR 8.75 crore for the English all-rounder. Livingstone has scored just 20 runs in two games for RCB. He has picked two wickets at an average of 21.

2. Jitesh Sharma

RCB spent INR 11 crore for the wicketkeeper-batter in the IPL 2025 Auction. A total of three teams were in the race to have him. Punjab Kings used their RTM card for Jitesh but RCB made a bid that PBKS couldn’t match. Jitesh has made just 12 runs in two matches for RCB so far.

3. Tim David

RCB picked Tim David for a price of INR 3 crore during the IPL 2025 auction. The Australian batter started his IPL career with RCB in 2021 before moving to Mumbai Indians. He had a decent outing for MI and scored over 200 runs in 2023 and 2024. However, David has scored just 22 runs in two matches so far for RCB.
