IPL 2025: 3 Reasons why RCB will top the points table at the end of league stage

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been on a great run this year and have won three out of their first four matches. They started their journey this season with a win over defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.

In their second outing, RCB defeated Chennai Super Kings in Chepauk by 50 runs. This happened for the first time since 2008. Rajat Patidar was the Player of the Match and scored a half-century.

Their next outing didn’t yield the same result as they lost to Gujarat Titans. However, in the next match, RCB defeated Mumbai Indians by 12 runs after posting a total of 221 runs for the loss of five wickets. Rajat again won the Player of the Match award for his batting performance.

Here are the three reasons why RCB will top the points table at the end of the league stage:

1. Better bowling unit than past years

Batters win you matches, but bowlers win you help tournaments. We have seen this happen a lot of times, not just in IPL but also in various other tournaments. The lack of a strong bowling unit has cost RCB a lot in the past few seasons. However, the story is different this year. Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya have led the bowling unit perfectly and are among the top 10 wicket-takers.

2. Reliable middle-order

Although, T20 has become a festival of run-scoring; however, one can’t neglect the role of an anchor. Over the years, RCB has had a terrific top-order lineup. However, the same has not been the case with their middle-order. The likes of Rajat, Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone, and Tim David are playing this role perfectly this year.

3. Form of Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has been leading the RCB batting unit since the very first season of the tournament and this year is no different. He is the leading run-scorer for RCB this year and has amassed 164 runs in four games at a strike rate of 143.85. Kohli, along with Phil Salt has provided fiery starts to the team in all games.
