IPL 2025: 3 Top signings by Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni, concluded the IPL 2025 season with the bottom-most position on the points table, winning four games and losing 10 in 14 encounters.

It’s important to note that this was the first time CSK ended with the wooden spoon in the standings in the league’s history. While they made numerous blunders at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, they also roped in some exceptional players in the latter stages of the season.

These youngsters, who entered the season as late entrants, turned the game upside down with their heroics. On that note, let’s take a look at the three top signings by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

3 Top signings by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025

1. Dewald Brevis

Young South African batter, who was part of the Mumbai Indians set-up earlier, was roped in by the Chennai Super Kings franchise at the price of INR 2.2 Crore as a replacement for the injured Gurjanpreet Singh.

While he entered the season mid-way as a replacement player, Brevis scored 225 runs from six innings at an average of 37.5 and a strike rate of 180 with two fifty-plus scores. While other batters failed to hit maximums, Brevis found it easy to hit the opposition bowlers over the park.

His highest score of 57 came against the Gujarat Titans in the last league game, which helped him to win the player of the match award. With an exceptional season, Brevis would be groomed by the franchise for the upcoming seasons.

2. Ayush Mhatre

The 17-year-old young opening batter Ayush Mhatre changed CSK’s batting approach fearlessly after he was roped into the playing XI as an opener. Interestingly, he went unsold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

However, as fortune favors the brave, the young fearless batter was drafted into the side at the price of INR 30 Lakh as the replacement of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was ruled out of the season mid-way with an elbow fracture.

While he got chances in seven games, he accumulated 240 runs at an average of 34.28 and a strike rate of 188.97 with one century. He has the highest score of 94 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru.

3. Noor Ahmad

Afghanistan leg-spinner Noor Ahmad, who was part of the Gujarat Titans' set-up since IPL 2023, was roped in by the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction for the whopping price of INR 10 Crore.

While the Afghan spinner scalped 24 wickets in the 2023 and 2024 seasons combined for the Titans, he pocketed a total of 24 wickets from 14 games in the IPL 2025 season to be among the leading wicket-takers for the majority of the season.

The 20-year-old had an impressive economy of 8.08 in the fast-paced tournament, highlighting his exceptional outings this season. His best bowling figures of 4/18 came against the arch-rivals Mumbai Indians.
