Ishan Kishan's dismissal against MI

Ishan Kishan missed a shot down the leg side during the 41st IPL 2025 match between SRH and MI in Hyderabad, and he walked back to the dugout. The umpire was on the verge of calling it a wide, and not a single member of the Mumbai Indians had filed an appeal. But when he saw Kishan leaving the field, he lifted his finger. As he made his way back to the pavilion, MI captain Hardik Pandya patted the batter on his helmet.

Replays, however, revealed that there was no edge, which surprised everyone. Kishan's decision to depart without being given out and without even being appealed by the opposition left fans and experts in complete disbelief.

Was the ball tampered with by Khaleel Ahmed?

Khaleel Ahmed was seen on camera stuffing something in his pocket with his back to the camera right before the first delivery during Chennai Super Kings' opening match against the Mumbai Indians. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, was also present when all of this occurred. 

Although nothing was done, supporters conjectured that the ball had been tampered with and asked the BCCI to investigate. Interestingly, every video that was making the rounds on social media has been taken off. There was no investigation or statements made about the same either.

DC's Shocking Run-Outs Against MI in the Final Over

In an IPL 2025 match versus MI at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Delhi Capitals required 23 runs from 12 balls. Ashutosh Sharma gave supporters hope by hitting two boundaries. The home team appeared to be crossing the line, but then catastrophe struck. 

Following the rapid dismissals of Ashutosh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohit Sharma, Delhi lost their first game in the season, giving MI their second victory. The hat-trick of run-outs in the last over made fans feel that something wasn't right, and they expressed their feelings on social media.

Digvesh Rathi's notebook celebration

Digvesh Singh Rathi, an LSG leg-spinner, has garnered attention during the 2025 Indian Premier League for his "notebook celebration." After dismissing Priyansh Arya and receiving a 25% match fee fine, the leggie first displayed the celebration during a game against PBKS. After firing Naman Dhir, he celebrated again against MI, which led to a 50% fine increase.

On May 19, 2025, tensions arose during a match between LSG and SRH when, once more, Rathi's celebration after Abhishek Sharma was dismissed led to a heated argument between the two players. The incident resulted in Sharma being fined half of his match money and Rathi being suspended for one match.

The dispute over Eden Gardens' pitch

After the IPL 2025 opening against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, captain Ajinkya Rahane of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) complained about unhelpful circumstances at the ground (referring to spin-friendly conditions), sparking the first significant controversy of the season. 

In response, Mukherjee defended himself by acknowledging that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in charge of pitch preparation and that players or franchises are not allowed to interfere with the field's conditions. According to him, franchises have no say on the pitch. Following the incident, home advantage and pitch manipulation were popular issues.
