IPL 2025: Jio Hotstar plans for IPL explained

Reliance Jio, India's largest telecom company by user base, has announced some good news for cricket lovers! If you're a Jio user, you might be able to watch the Indian Premier League for free on the JioHotstar app.

The IPL 2025 will begin on March 21, and the first match will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It will be the first time KKR and RCB will lock horns in the opening game of the IPL since the very first edition of the tournament. 

A total of 74 matches will be played in this edition of the tournament. A total of 13 venues have been selected to host these matches. Each of the 10 teams will play 14 games each in the tournament. The first qualifier and eliminator matches will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The second qualifier and final will be played in Kolkata.

Jio says that if you recharge your Jio number with Rs 299 or more, you can get the ultimate cricketing experience. The recharge will give you 90-day free access to JioHotstar on TV or mobile in 4K.

How to Watch IPL for free on JioHotstar?

If you're new to Jio, get a new Jio SIM and recharge with Rs 299 or more between March 17 and March 31. If you already have Jio, recharge with Rs 299 or more. Make sure the plan gives you at least 1.5 GB of data per day. If you have already recharged before March 17, you can buy a special add-on pack for Rs 100 to get the free IPL.

This is a change from before. Earlier, JioCinema (now JioHotstar) used to show IPL matches completely free. Now, they're trying a mix where you need a recharge or subscription after using a certain amount of content.
