IPL 2025: Who is the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru can surely boast of having one of the most passionate fan bases across the globe. They have seen a lot of ups and downs over the years but their never lost faith in them and kept supporting them through and through.

RCB has had some of the absolute best players in the world as their captains over the years including Rahul Dravid, Kevin Pietersen, Anil Kumble, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. They have all shone bright in the tournament and have put up a great fight.

For the 2025 season, RCB announced the 31-years old batter Rajat Patidar as their new skipper after a lot of speculation. 

The RCB batter has shown fine leadership skills by leading Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he was retained by RCB ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. 

He took the team to the finals in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, although could not defeat Rahane’s men of Mumbai in the tournament. Quietly, Patidar has made a strong argument for himself for the leadership roles and has been rightly rewarded.

Faf du Plessis was the skipper of the team last season and they had a good season where they did qualify for the playoffs, however could not proceed much as they were defeated by the Rajasthan Royals in the eliminators.

The team has been revolving around Virat Kohli and the team’s performance has always been depending on how he plays. To reduce the burden and responsibility off his shoulders, the RCB management did a pretty good job at the mega auctions and have picked a good team for the upcoming season.
