Cameron Green will be one of the marquee attractions at the IPL 2026 mini-auction. A powerful middle-order batter who can operate up the order when needed, plus a genuine fast-bowling option, gives him rare value in T20 cricket. With his recent form in white-ball cricket and his strong track record in the IPL, several franchises will line up for him. Three teams in particular should be seriously considering an aggressive bid.

1) Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR ripped up their old script by releasing Andre Russell and clearing a huge purse. That created a glaring need: a genuine match-finisher who can also bowl seam. Green does both — he hits long, times power-play and middle overs well, and offers authentic pace bowling as a useful fourth seamer.

Former pundits and columnists have already flagged KKR as a natural suitor for Green after the Russell exit, and with one of the largest purses, KKR can afford the splurge if they decide to rebalance around a multi-format all-rounder.

2) Chennai Super Kings

CSK have historically valued big, versatile overseas signings who slot into multiple roles. Reports name CSK among the teams likely to push hard for Green, and it’s easy to see why: Green can bat anywhere from 3–6, giving CSK flexibility to juggle Gaikwad or to experiment with an extra overseas seamer.

His height and ball-striking suit Chepauk’s boundaries and middle-over scenarios, while his seam spells add a seam option that CSK don’t always have in abundance. With CSK’s purse position and a strategy that prizes longevity and multi-role players, Green fits both tactically and commercially.

3) Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH have built a powerful batting core with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma at the top, but the middle order still depends heavily on Heinrich Klaasen. Green brings something SRH have lacked: a batter who can play both the holding role and the finishing role depending on the match situation.

His seam bowling would also complement SRH’s pace attack instead of overlapping with it, giving the side tactical freedom in team composition. Given how aggressively SRH targets players with high ceilings and long-term value, Green is the exact profile they tend to invest in.
