IPL 2026: GT full squad after mini auction

Gujarat Titans (GT) had a tough season in 2024, failing to qualify for the playoffs as they finished eighth. However, under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, they made decent progress in the following season, as GT qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2025. They lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the eliminator and were knocked out. Now, heading into the 2026 season, Gill will look to keep the team moving forward and chase their second IPL title.

Before the recently concluded mini-auction in Abu Dhabi, GT retained 20 players, ensuring their core remained settled and intact. They entered the auction with an available purse of INR 12.9 crore and a maximum of five slots to be filled. While they completed their squad, a few names left fans surprised.

The first was West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, picked for INR 7 crore. Holder is known for his all-round ability, but over the years, whether in the IPL, other franchise leagues, or international cricket, he has been inconsistent. Hence, spending INR 7 crore on him came as a surprise for GT fans, considering the other available all-round options.

Tom Banton, the exciting England wicketkeeper-batter, is another player in whom the franchise showed faith. Left-arm England pacer Luke Wood also managed to secure a place in the squad. 

However, eyes will be on Ashok Sharma, whom GT picked for INR 90 lakh. The 20-year-old Rajasthan pacer has made a sensational start to his domestic T20 career. In the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, he finished as the tournament’s joint highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 10 innings, averaging 15.63 at an economy of 10.13, including two four-wicket hauls.
