Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are yet to bag their maiden IPL title. After qualifying for the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023, they failed to do so in the following two seasons (2024 and 2025), finishing seventh on both occasions. Last year, under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy, LSG fans were hopeful of a better show, but they finished with just 12 points from 14 games (six wins and eight losses).
Now, for IPL 2026, they have assembled a 25-member squad. Ahead of the recently concluded mini-auction, they retained a total of 19 players, including two who were traded in. They brought in veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and youngster Arjun Tendulkar from Mumbai Indians (MI). Shami had a tough season last year and, in an LSG jersey, he will look for redemption.
In the auction, LSG spent INR 8.60 crore on Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis. However, the move surprised many fans, as Inglis’ availability could be an issue due to his marriage.
They also showed strong interest in young Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana and were involved in an intense bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Eventually, they failed to land him and instead added South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje for INR 2 crore.
Another big and impactful addition is Sri Lanka’s spin-bowling all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga. He is primarily known for his bowling ability but can also contribute with the bat, especially at the back end of the innings.
The 22-year-old Akshat Raghuwanshi is another exciting name on which LSG showed faith. The franchise got the Madhya Pradesh batter at INR 2.20 crore.
