IPL 2026: Top 5 expensive uncapped players in the auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a platform where young, unknown talents get a much-awaited opportunity to showcase their abilities, rubbing shoulders with the world’s biggest stars across the world. 

Since the league’s introduction, several uncapped young players have emerged, and many of them, eventually gone on to play for India as well. Every season, during the auctions, fans get to know about players who have worked hard for several years and finally get their due reward when a franchise picks them.

The IPL 2026 mini-auction was no different. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) adopted a bold approach and bagged two Indian uncapped players — Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma — for a massive amount of INR 14.20 crore each. Veer had a fantastic UPT20 last season, scoring 320 runs at a strike rate of over 155, along with eight wickets with the ball through his left-arm spin. He could be the perfect player to fill the void of Ravindra Jadeja, who was traded by the franchise ahead of the auction to the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Kartik can be a good option for CSK at number four. He is known for his clean-hitting ability. Hence, both players became the joint most expensive uncapped players in the history of the competition.

In the third spot, Delhi Capitals (DC) bagged the Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi for INR 8.60 crore. He has shown immense consistency across all formats for Jammu & Kashmir in the domestic circuit. Then, the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) spent INR 5.20 crore to land the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Mangesh Yadav. He is known for his left-arm pace bowling, along with being a handy batter.

Tejasvi Dahiya is another name that hit the headlines as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bagged the explosive wicketkeeper-batter for INR 3.0 crore. In the Delhi Premier League 2025, he smashed a 12-ball fifty for South Delhi Superstarz against Purani Dilli.
