IPL: 5 Players who deserve a better team next season

The Indian Premier League 2025 is pacing ahead towards the business end of the season, and every team has played more than half of their games in the league stage. While some teams are doing good and some are struggling, there have been players who have not got enough chances to display their talents. Let’s take a look at some of these players who deserve a better team.

T Natarajan

The left-handed pacer from Tamil Nadu, T Nataraj, had taken the IPL by storm in 2022, where he did not just scalp 18 wickets in 11 games but also bowled picture-perfect yorkers regularly. He was bowling with such precision and accuracy that it was turning out to be a nightmare for batters. 

He did a decent job in 2023, while he again had a fantastic season in 2024, where he took 19 wickets playing with Hyderabad. However, during the mega-auctions, Delhi managed to take his services for this season but have not been able to play him even for a single game so far. He deserves to play every single game, and a better team might give him that opportunity.

Akash Madhwal

Akash Madhwal rose to fame in the 2023 season when he debuted with the Mumbai Indians and had a fantastic season. Reeling with injuries, Mumbai did not have any proper bowling options and were in need of a wicket-taking bowler, where Madhwal came to their rescue.

He played a total of eight games, where he scalped 14 wickets, and the team made it to the play-offs. The following season, he did not get many chances, and in this mega-auction, he was drafted into the Rajasthan Royals. The team has been struggling with bowling, but has not given him a chance to play so far.

Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar debuted in 2017 with Rising Pune SuperGiants but got noticed in 2019, when he got to play for the Mumbai Indians. He played for three seasons with them for a total of 39 games where he picked up 42 wickets and at a good economy rate.

He then went on to the Punjab Kings and played for another three seasons there, with the 2023 season not really working out for him. For this season, he has now taken in the Sunrisers Hyderabad but has played just one game. 

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar is a resourceful all-rounder who bowls smartly and has the quality to bat higher up the order. So far he has played 63 games in the IPL for various teams where he has scored 429 runs and scalped 39 wickets. 

He has played just three games this season so far for the Gujarat Titans, where he has taken away two wickets and has scored 51 runs with the bat, which includes a match-winning knock of 49. He can find a team where he gets to play regularly and contribute well.

Nathan Ellis

Nathan Ellis has been a great bowler of the T20 format, scalping 194 wickets with an economy of 8.10 from 161 games so far in the format. He has also played 20 games representing his nation and took away 32 wickets, which includes several match-winning spells.

He used to be a part of the Punjab Kings till the last season, where he did not get enough chances, except in 2023. This year, he has been drafted into the Chennai Super Kings but unfortunately, he still has not got to play more than one game so far. He can turn ou to be a wicket-taking bowler.
