IPL: Predicting CSK strongest playing XI

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did not have a good season in IPL 2024. Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, they ended their journey in the round-robin stage. This year, CSK will aim to play better and win the trophy for the sixth time. In the IPL 2025 auction held in Jeddah in November 2024, CSK bought some big names like Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Sam Curran, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Rahul Tripathi. 

Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad will open the batting for CSK. They need to give strong starts to the team with their powerful batting. Their performance will be very important for CSK, especially since the pitches at Chepauk are usually good for batting early in the innings.

In the middle order, CSK will have Rahul Tripathi, Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, and MS Dhoni as the wicketkeeper. Although Rahul Tripathi has not played well in the last two seasons, CSK will still believe he can help strengthen their batting. 

Shivam Dube is expected to play aggressively in the middle order. Deepak Hooda has struggled recently, but the team hopes he will perform well. Veteran MS Dhoni is likely to play his last season in the IPL and will aim to finish games effectively.

Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran will be key players for CSK in all areas of the game. Sam Curran returns to CSK after four years. He played a big role in CSK's fourth title win in 2021, taking nine wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin will lead CSK’s spin attack and will have the support of young leg-spinner Noor Ahmad from Afghanistan. Matheesha Pathirana is expected to do well with his fast bowling. CSK shelled out INR 10 crore to pick Noor in the IPL 2025 Auction. 

Mukesh Choudhary might join the playing XI as an impact player. He has been performing well with the ball for Maharashtra in the domestic season of 2024-25.
