Irfan Pathan recalls heated conversation with Shahid Afridi from 2006 Pakistan tour

Shahid Afridi, the former captain of Pakistan, is well-known for his outspoken comments in addition to his cricketing prowess. Throughout his playing career and after retiring, Afridi made headlines for all the wrong reasons, including his attacks on Indian players. Irfan Pathan, a former all-rounder for India, recently recalled a heated exchange with Afridi during a trip.

The banter between the two occurred during India's 2006 tour of Pakistan, most likely following the third Test in Karachi. Afridi chose to play with a young Pathan, who had played about 20 Test matches in three years, as the Indian and Pakistani teams made their journey from Karachi to Lahore.

According to Pathan, the event happened in 2006, following the Karachi Test. One of the more experienced players on the Pakistani team, Afridi, began making fun of the young Indian by tampering with his hair and referring to him as a "kid." The comment did not sit well with Pathan, who at first remained silent but managed to respond without making a fuss.

According to Pathan, the Pakistan all-rounder was taken aback when Abdul Razzaq, who was sitting next to him on the plane, casually enquired about the variety of meat that was offered. Pathan stated he didn't hold back and that the reason the dog had been barking was because Afridi had eaten his steak.

According to Pathan, he was sitting next to Abdul Razzaq throughout the journey, and he asked Razzaq in passing about the many types of meat that were served there. The Pakistani all-rounder was astonished when he asked if dog meat was available. Without holding back, Pathan revealed that he hadn't held back and said Afridi had eaten the dog's meat, which was why he had been barking.

In addition to embarrassing Afridi, the comment put a stop to the episode because, according to reports, Afridi never again bothered Pathan after that day.
