Former Indian batter and commentator Mohammed Kaif has requested that Virat Kohli reconsider his retirement decision and take part in the England tour in order to bid adieu to the longest format of the game on a good note.
According to various reports published on different websites, Kohli has communicated to the BCCI about his decision to retire from Tests ahead of the England tour, which falls in the new World Test Championship cycle.
With the England tour scheduled in a month’s time, the BCCI requested Kohli to reconsider his decision. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma has also retired from the format, and the team would be a completely young side on the England tour if Kohli decides to retire.
Talking about Kohli’s decision to retire, Kaif took to X (formerly Twitter) to explain the reason behind his decision. Kaif feels the Indian talismanic batter is helpless against the delivery that’s bowling outside off-stump, which didn’t give good returns for him.
"Virat Kohli, India's Babbar Sher, wants to relax. He is thinking about retirement. I think he should go to England, prove his point and end his career on a high note. Because of the work he did in the T20 World Cup, he should end his career on a good note. Is he thinking about retirement out of helplessness? Because there is one kind of delivery that has been troubling him for many years. The ball bowled outside the off stump," Kaif said in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Talking about Kohli’s stats, since his Test debut in 2011, Kohli has played 210 innings in Tests, accumulating 9230 runs at an exceptional average of 46.85 with 30 centuries and 31 fifties, with his highest individual score being an unbeaten knock of 254.
