“They don’t know what he is like at home” - Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan slams his critics

Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan, who is also the broadcaster for Sony Sports Network, during the ongoing five-match Test series between England and India in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, shut down the pacer’s critics.

While Bumrah opted to silence his critics with a 12th five-wicket haul away from home in Tests, Sanjana stated that people don’t know what exactly Bumrah is like away from the field at home as they know the seamer only on a cricket field.

“In the short time that I’ve known and been married to a professional athlete, I’ve realised that people don’t know every aspect of your life — they only know what you choose to show them. They know Jasprit Bumrah on a cricket field, but they don’t know what he’s like at home or off the field,” Sanjana Ganesan said on Sony Sports Network.

“So, I’ve tried to separate who we are as people from public opinion — and it’s just a lot more peaceful inside your head when you do that. But at the end of the day, you have to remember that people on both sides of every opinion are human beings, and you have to treat them with respect and kindness,” she added.

After Day 3 play, Bumrah, who attended the press conference, also silenced his critics, stating that a lot of people had written him off in only six months of his career. However, he went on to play for Team India a lot of years, scripting records and milestones.

"I’ve played cricket based on my own beliefs. I’ve reached every format on the back of those beliefs. Because people didn’t just say no to me once—at first, they said I wouldn’t be able to play, then they said I’d last only six months, then eight months. But playing and playing, I’m now close to completing ten years in international cricket. It’s been twelve or thirteen years that I’ve played in the IPL,” Bumrah said.
