KL Rahul is one of the finest batters to grace the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament. KL Rahul was first bought by the RCB franchise in IPL 2013 for his base price of INR 10 lakhs. Then in the IPL 2014 auction, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 1 crore and stayed there for IPL 2015 as well.
KL Rahul again moved to RCB for IPL 2016 for INR 1 crore but missed the next season in 2017 due to an injury. Then in the IPL 2018 mega auction, Punjab Kings (previously Kings XI Punjab) bought him for INR 11 crores and made him captain. He had four excellent seasons with them until he was released ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Lucknow Super Giants then drafted him ahead of the auction for INR 17 crores, and he captained them to two playoff finishes. But a seventh-place finish in IPL 2024 led to LSG releasing him for IPL 2025. Delhi Capitals then bought him for INR 14 crores in the IPL 2025 auction in Saudi Arabia.
