“He was bowling on the sixth stump” - Kris Srikkanth disappointed with Shivam Dube as sixth bowling option

Former Indian cricketer and commentator  Krishnamachari Srikkanth has opened up on India’s only concern, heading into their virtual quarter-final clash against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, March 1.

Speaking exclusively on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth asserted that Shivam Dube bowling on the sixth stump turned out to be a major concern as the sixth bowling option, adding that he hasn’t seen anyone bowling like that.

“I don’t think bowling is a concern. It was a good batting track. My only concern is the sixth bowler. Did you see where Dube was bowling? He was bowling on the sixth stump. I have not seen bowling like that,” he said on his ‘Cheeky Cheeka’ YouTube channel.

“I think they had the luxury of runs behind them so they wanted to give some bowling practice. The question of net run rate was out of the window. It was just about winning the game,” he added.

Furthermore, the former Indian selector also reckoned that India shouldn’t go with Shivam Dube as the sixth bowling option as the tournament progresses to the business end and India has to win all of their remaining games to win the title. 

“I said that even after losing to South Africa, India would win in Chennai and would be on the road to win the cup. It is a gun team. Arshdeep bowling well, Bumrah bowling well, Varun and Hardik are decent. You will not need to try six bowlers against the West Indies. If needed, we can look into it when the semifinal comes,” he concluded.
