Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth has heaped praise on the promising young Indian pacer Harshit Rana, who scalped four wickets in the Sydney ODI to propel India to a consolation win in the third ODI Down Under on Saturday, October 25.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth stated that he loved the way Rana had set up Mitchell Owen’s wicket in the slips as the middle-order batter was packed up for only one run off four balls. He also felt that Rana got a lot of confidence after getting some valuable runs with the bat in the second ODI in the death overs.

“Harshit Rana bowled superbly. Taking four wickets in an ODI is a big achievement. My favourite was the wicket of Owen. It was a superb delivery and Rohit took a great catch," Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

“He (Rana) bowled a terrific line and length. Last match, he got clobbered at the death, but this game, he bowled very well even at the death. He did not bowl short today and did not try too many slower ones,” he added.

“So today, Harshit Rana deserves all the praise. I am very happy for you. Yes, I criticised you a lot, but at the end of the day, you have done very well. He has got his confidence back from the last match after scoring with the bat and from his first spell with the ball," Srikkanth concluded.

For the unversed, earlier during the Asia Cup 2025 campaign, Srikkanth had slammed Rana for being a yes-man to Gambhir and called him a permanent member of the Indian team across the formats.

“Be a Yes-Man to Gambhir. There is only one permanent member – Harshit Rana. Nobody knows why he is there in the team. You don’t pick some players even if they do well and take others even if they don’t,” Srikkanth had said on his YouTube channel.
