It looks like the debate and discussions are not going to end too soon after the unexpected defeat of Team India against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final. This defeat also shattered India’s dreams of lifting the ODI World Cup title after a long wait of 12 years on their home soil.

Meanwhile, some of the former Indian cricketers also came up with their takes and theories on India’s only title-defining loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 final after 10 successive wins against the Australian team who lost their first two matches in the tournament. In the same line of events, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif also poured out his emotions in a post-match talk after India’s 6-wicket defeat against the Aussies in the summit clash.

“I can never accept that the best team has won the World Cup. The Indian is the best team on paper and in terms of their performance throughout the tournament,” said Mohammed Kaif.

Subsequently, Kaif’s remarks didn’t’ go down well with some of the active Australian cricketers, who were a part of Australia’s ODI World Cup 2023 champion team. The veteran opener David Warner came up with a reply to former Indian batter over X (formerly Twitter).

“I like MK, issue is it does not matter what’s on paper. At the end of the day, you need to perform when it matters. That’s why they call it a final. That’s the day that counts and it can go either way, that’s sports. 2027 here we come,” wrote Warner in his X-post.

Earlier, the star Australian broadcaster and commentator Glenn Mitchell also shared his opinion on X following the remarks from Mohammed Kaif on Australia’s World Cup win

“I think someone needs to remind former Indian batter, Mohammed Kaif that finals are won on a cricket field and not on paper,” wrote Maxwell in his X-post.
