List of Australian players who might miss the rest of IPL 2025

Australian players’ availability for the rest of the IPL 2025 season is one of the biggest debates at the moment. This comes after the BCCI announced that the rest of the IPL 2025 season will resume on May 17, with the final to be played on June 3.

The IPL 2025 was suspended on May 9 when the Punjab Kings v. Delhi Capitals match was called off after Pakistani drones bombarded India in Pathankot, which is only 50 km away from Dharamshala, where the match was going on.

The floodlights were shut off after a blackout notice was ordered by authorities, who also evacuated the stadium with the crowd and players moving out in a disciplined manner. And the league was suspended for one week.

This resulted in foreign players leaving for their home countries as concerns grew about tensions between India and Pakistan on the borders. However, with both countries reaching an understanding after days of bombing, the BCCI announced that the IPL 2025 would resume on May 17 and released the revised schedule as well.

Several Australian cricketers are unlikely to return for the IPL 2025 despite Cricket Australia’s support

The tournament will now conclude on June 3, one week prior to the WTC final, which starts at Lord's on June 11, according to the updated schedule that was revealed on Monday. For the remainder of the IPL season, this has raised questions about the availability of several elite Australian players.

Australia is set to face South Africa in the final of the WTC 2025 at Lord's.

The IPL players that have been selected for the Australian Test team are Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. Of these, Hazlewood's injury is confirmed to keep him out for the rest of the season.

While Inglis' Punjab Kings are also just one victory away from finishing in the top four, Hazlewood's Royal Challengers Bengaluru are in a strong position to qualify for the playoffs. The Delhi Capitals, led by Mitchell Starc, are vying for a final-four berth. Cummins' SunRisers Hyderabad are not in the running for the playoffs. The head belongs to the same side as well.

It is to be noted that Cricket Australia has given full support to Australian cricketers even if they want to go back to India for the remaining IPL season.

"Cricket Australia will support players in their individual decisions whether to return to India or not. Team management will work through the preparation implications for the World Test Championship final for those players who choose to play in the remaining IPL matches,” CA said in a statement.
