List of five upcoming ICC events

Only three months into 2025, cricket fans have already witnessed an ICC event. The Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan, took place recently. Due to political reasons, India did not travel to Pakistan and played their matches in Dubai. Eventually, they became unbeaten champions.

But there is no shortage of cricketing action. ICC events always bring excitement, energy, and passionate support from fans. When a team performs well in an ICC tournament, it becomes a proud and historic moment for the country. 

Look at Team India’s performances in the last three white-ball ICC tournaments. They were runners-up in the 2023 ODI World Cup at home, champions of the 2024 T20 World Cup, and now, winners of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

However, in Test cricket, things have become difficult for India. For the first time, they have failed to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The final is scheduled to take place at Lord’s from June 11 to 15, 2025. 

Two ICC events are scheduled to take place in 2026

India had a chance to make their third straight WTC final. But a home whitewash (0-3) against New Zealand and a 1-3 Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss in Australia knocked them out. Now, Australia will look to defend their WTC title against South Africa. A newly rejuvenated South Africa will look to write history by defeating the Aussies.   

Later this year, another ICC event will take place, but this time in women’s cricket. The Women’s ODI World Cup will be held in India. The 50-over format has suited Team India well in recent years, both in men’s and women’s cricket. Therefore, expectations will be high for Harmanpreet Kaur and her team. This tournament will be a big test for them.

In 2026, two ICC tournaments are scheduled. The Men’s T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, where India will aim to defend their title. Later that year, England will host the Women’s T20 World Cup. In 2027, the next WTC final will take place as the 2025-27 cycle comes to an end. It is expected to be held in England again.
