To honour their legacy and accomplishments, the International Cricket Council (ICC) inducts former cricket greats into its Hall of Fame. Eleven Indians have received this award thus far. Let's take a look at them:
1. Bishan Singh Bedi
Bishan Singh Bedi has been one of the best spinners in cricket’s history. The renowned spin quartet from India included the left-arm spinner. He got 266 wickets in 67 Test matches. In 22 games, he also served as India's captain.
2. Sunil Gavaskar
The first batsman in history to reach 10,000 runs in Test cricket is Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar scored 10,122 and 3,092 runs in 122 Test matches and 108 One-Day Internationals while playing for India.
3. Kapil Dev
One of the best all-around players in history is the renowned captain who won the 1983 World Cup. He is still the only cricket player in history to have both more than 400 wickets and 5000 Test runs. He has 434 Test wickets to go along with his more than 5000 Test runs.
4. Anil Kumble
In 2015, Anil Kumble was inducted into the Hall of Fame as India's top wicket-taker in both Test and One-Day International cricket. Kumble claimed 337 ODI wickets and 619 Test wickets. He had a total of 953 wickets at the end of his international career.
5. Rahul Dravid
In 2018, Rahul Dravid, the former head coach and captain of the Indian cricket team, was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Dravid amassed 10,889 runs in 344 ODIs and 13,288 runs in 164 Test matches.
6. Sachin Tendulkar
Tendulkar, known as the "God of Cricket," is perhaps the greatest batsman in history. In Test and One-Day International cricket, he continues to be the highest-scoring player and holds numerous other records that are unlikely to be surpassed in history.
7. Vinoo Mankad
In 2021, Vinoo Mankad was admitted into the ICC Hall of Fame. In Test cricket, he is one of the best all-rounders from India. In just 23 games, he became the first Indian to reach 1000 Test runs and take 100 wickets.
8. Diana Edulji
In 2023, Diana Edulji, the former captain of the Indian women's cricket team, was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Edulji participated in 20 Test matches and 34 ODIs, scoring 404 and 211 runs, respectively, while also getting rid of 63 and 46 batters.
9. Virender Sehwag
Being the only Indian to make two triple hundreds in cricket, Sehwag is perhaps one of the game's most aggressive and effective openers. He has an ODI double hundred to his name.
10. Neetu David
In 2024, David was admitted into the ICC Hall of Fame as the second Indian female player. She claimed 182 wickets for India and represented the country in 97 ODIs & 10 Test matches. She has the best figures in women's test in an innings.
11. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni has been one of the best captains of the game. Throughout his 15-year career, Dhoni participated in 90 Test matches, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is, scoring over 17,000 runs and winning every trophy there was to be won.
