In a recent piece of news, South Africa rested the skipper Temba Bavuma from the upcoming white-ball series against India, including both T20I and ODI series. The SA management appointed the veteran middle-order batter Aiden Markram as the skipper of the side in the three-match T20I series and three-match ODI series, respectively against India.

Bavuma’s omission as captain has also raised some questions among the cricket if he has been rested or dropped from the white-ball leg against India. Notably, the Proteas side made it to the semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma, where they lost to Australia by a narrow margin of 3 wickets and got eliminated from the tournament.

Whereas, Rohit will be back with the side as captain in the two-match Test series against the Proteas.
