Michael Vaughan, a former captain of England cricket, was in the vicinity of the Bondi, Sydney, terror incident site on Sunday. 15 people, including a 10-year-old girl, were killed in the attack that targeted a Jewish celebration on Bondi Beach.

He claims that during the terrorist attack at Sydney's Bondi Beach, he hid at a nearby restaurant and that hearing gunshots was "terrifying." Vaughan, who is now in Australia serving as a media analyst for the Ashes series, claimed that he, his wife, two daughters, sister-in-law, and a friend were trapped in a restaurant "a few hundred yards from the attack."

The terrorist attack on Sunday at Sydney's Bondi Beach, which is claimed to have killed fifteen civilians and a child, has left Vaughan "deeply saddened." The 51-year-old, who was in a restaurant not far from the scene of the incident, claimed that Australia was his second home and that it was always one of the safest countries for him to travel.

“Yesterday was a surreal day that I don’t really want to go through again. I’m deeply saddened by everything that has gone on. To be 300 yards away, in a pub locked away, scary times.”

“I look at Bondi and Sydney in particular – it’s like my second home. Australia is an amazing country, and it’s probably one of the countries in the whole world where I always say it’s the safest. It’s the safest place,” Vaughan told the BBC.

According to Australian authorities, a father and son were responsible for the shooting that left 38 people in the hospital and 15 dead, including a 10-year-old girl and a British-born rabbi. While his son, a 24-year-old guy, suffered critical injuries and was transported to the hospital under police supervision, the older gunman, a 50-year-old man, was shot by police and died at the scene.

Vaughan explored how, even when terrorist incidents take place in well-known locations, they frequently seem far away when viewed on television. All of that is frightening and feels a lot like home. However, it's terrible to be so close that you can hear it happening.
