Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) to post an old picture of the Indian talismanic batter Virat Kohli gifting him a bat before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016.

For the unversed, when Amir made a comeback after serving his ban in the spot-fixing scandal, Kohli supported the pacer. In his post, Amir captioned the picture, stating, "One thing is for sure, Virat is the best player and human being in Indian cricket history. Respect."

Interestingly, Amir is trying to take an indirect dig at the current Indian T20I players, who decided not to shake hands with the Pakistani cricketers, including Salman Ali Agha, after the conclusion of the group stage game against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 campaign.

While this didn’t go down well with many in the Pakistan cricketing fraternity, the Pakistan skipper decided not to attend the post-match presentation ceremony, which was later revealed by the head coach Mike Hesson.

"We were ready to shake hands at the end of the game, we obviously are disappointed that our opposition didn't do that. We sort of went over there to shake hands and they'd already gone into the changing room,” Mike Hesson said.

"That was a disappointing way for the match to finish, and a match we were disappointed for the way we played, but we were certainly willing to shake hands,” he added.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has also shared his views on why his team decided not to shake hands with the Pakistani players. He stated that it was a collective team call and a few things are ahead of sportsmanship.

"Few things in life are ahead of sportsman spirit also. I've [said] it at the presentation as well, we stand with all the victims of Pahalgam terror attacks, stand with their families, and express our solidarity,” SKY said.
