After vehemently addressing former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif's remarks regarding his fitness and bowling technique, Indian ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah sparked a social media firestorm.
In his analysis of India's use of Bumrah during the Asia Cup, Kaif implied that the bowler was purposefully avoiding death overs in order to avoid getting hurt. On X, previously Twitter, Bumrah denied the allegation, stating that Kaif's analysis was incorrect and that this was not the first time he had been mistaken about him.
In reference to the ongoing Asia Cup, Kaif shared his thoughts on Bumrah's bowling stints under Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav on social media. "Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in the Asia Cup, he bowled a three-over spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters. Against stronger teams at the World Cup, this could hurt India," Kaif had said on a social media post on September 25.
Bumrah’s response was sharp and dismissive, asserting that Kaif’s assumptions did not reflect reality. “Inaccurate before inaccurate again," Bumrah posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The former Indian cricketer has responded after he was called out by Jasprit Bumrah for his post on social media. "Please take this as a cricketing observation from a well-wisher and an admirer. You are Indian cricket's biggest match-winner and I know what it takes to give it all when on field wearing India colours," Kaif posted on X.

Bumrah missed the Champions Trophy earlier this year after suffering a back spasm during the Sydney Cricket Ground's final Test match against Australia. Bumrah then only participated in three Test matches against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as a precaution.
In a video posted in July of this year, Kaif discussed how Bumrah's body "has given up" and that he might eventually retire from Test matches. All this may have added fuel to the fire.
