Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami has revealed his India’s playing XI against the United Arab Emirates as Men In Blue are all set to take on the hosts on Wednesday, September 10, in Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Delving into the details of his XI, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are expected to open the innings, while Shubman Gill comes in at No.3. Later, captain Suryakumar Yadav comes in at No.4 with Tilak Varma occupying the fifth position.

Moving further, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel are all-round options, with one between Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube to take the field. Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh are other bowling options in the XI.

Furthermore, Shami also asserted the reason behind Rinku Singh’s omission in his playing XI, stating that Rinku hasn’t performed well of late for the Indian team and his IPL side Knight Riders. However, his recent performance in UPT20 League was decent enough.

"The strike rate that Hardik Pandya plays, the players around him, it’s not like they haven’t performed. Rinku Singh has performed, but his recent form for India isn’t good (67 runs in five innings). Even in the IPL, I think KKR didn’t use him properly. He played in the UPT20 League and performed there (372 runs in 11 innings), batting at No. 4 and 5. But his India performance hasn’t been effective,” Shami said on his YouTube channel.

India will take on the UAE in the first match of the Asia Cup 2025 campaign on September 10, while they will later face off with their arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, September 14. Their last group stage game is against Oman on Friday, September 19.
