Mohammed Siraj has matured into a genuine match-winner for India: Moeen Ali

Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali has heaped praise on the Indian seamer Mohammed Siraj for showing exceptional grit throughout the five-match Test series against England, terming him a ‘genuine match-winner’.

It’s important to note that Siraj played a crucial role in the Oval Test, scalping a nine-wicket match haul to hand India a six-run narrow win as the visitors levelled the series 2-2 to conclude the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. 

Speaking at an event, the former all-rounder called Siraj a world-class bowler for bringing a lot of energy, aggression, and consistency to the game, adding that it would be a huge challenge for any batter to face a bowler like him.

"Siraj has been outstanding in the England series. The energy, aggression, and consistency he brings with the ball is world-class. He's matured into a genuine match-winner for India, and it's always a challenge for batsmen facing him,” Moeen Ali said during a visit to the London office of leading property developer GFS Developments.

It’s worth noting that Siraj was adjudged the player of the match in the Oval Test. Overall, he scalped 23 wickets from five Tests, bowling more than 180 overs, emerging as the lone pacer to play all five Tests on the England tour to lead the wickets tally.

His outstanding performance at the Oval also propelled him 12 spots to the career-best 15th position in the newly updated ICC Test bowlers rankings, which is still led by the Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

Moeen, who continued to praise the seamer, stated that Siraj has impressed him the most for having an exceptional ability to control the ball. Moreover, he added that Siraj has a big heart and never backs down from any challenge.

"What impresses me most is his ability to control the ball. He's got a big heart and never backs down - that's what makes him so special. Credit to him for the impact he's making,” Moeen added.
