Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was stranded at Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport following India's crushing defeat to South Africa because his Air India Express aircraft (IX 2884) to Hyderabad was delayed by almost four hours.

Siraj resorted to social media to vent his frustration at the lack of communication, pointing out that the airline had not offered an explanation for the delay despite numerous follow-ups.

Following India's devastating 408-run defeat in the second Test at Guwahati, which was South Africa's first Test series victory in India in 25 years, came this terrible travel experience. In the first innings, Siraj took two wickets for 105 runs, but in the second, he bowled just five overs and was unsuccessful.

Siraj warned other customers not to fly with the airline if it cannot guarantee sufficient responsibility and called the experience the worst he had ever had with an airline. He also criticized the lengthy wait without any updates.

The flight was supposed to take off at 7:25 p.m., but it kept passengers waiting indefinitely, leaving many stranded and uninformed.

Air India flight no. IX 2884 from Guwahati to Hyderabad was supposed to take off at 7.25; however, there has been no communication from the airline, and after repeatedly following up, they have just delayed the flight with no proper reasoning. This has been really frustrating, and this is the basic ask by every passenger. The flight delayed by 4 hours and still no update has left us stranded. Worst airline experience. I really would not advise anyone to take this flight if they can’t take a stand. @AirIndiaX,” Siraj posted on X.

Mohammed Siraj has not been named in India’s squad for the three ODI series against South Africa that begins on November 30 in Ranchi.
